The PARISS imaging spectrometer uses a "curved" prism with a focussing mirror to provide point-to-point imaging. The prism has curved sides to reduce, or eliminate, aberrations that can degrade spatial and spectral resolution. All "points" on the entrance slit are imaged as points, at each wavelength, on the detector. Be sure to view the animation below |
